Candidates are admitted for different areas of expertise based on their qualification. and experience. short term training from one day- two weeks are provided. long terms training are between one month to two years.

The department major function is to organize different types of training for skills development for members of Self-Help- Groups (SHGs) in each of the informal sectors in different technical areas and professions. They are to be given up-to-date training to enable them to cope with the challenges of their work, to be professionally competent and to work and live decently. The department is headed by a Director.
