The department major function is to organize different types of training for skills development for members of Self-Help- Groups (SHGs) in each of the informal sectors in different technical areas and professions. They are to be given up-to-date training to enable them to cope with the challenges of their work, to be professionally competent and to work and live decently. The department is headed by a Director.

The department provides training for artisans, craftsmen and technicians in the following areas:

  • Carpentry and Joinery
  • Spray Painting
  • Painting, Sign-writing and Artwork
  • Bricklaying and Masonry
  • Pipe Fitting and Plumbing Works
  • Auto Electric Work
  • Motor Vehicle Mechanic Work
  • Panel beating
  • Welding and Iron bending
  • Radio/Electronic/TV Works Computer Networking and Maintenance
  • Refrigerator and Air conditioner Mechanic
  • Electric Wiring and Fittings
  • Machinists
  • Motor Body Building
  • Tools and Equipment Servicing and Maintenances
  • Agricultural Equipment Mechanic
  • Borehole and Pump maintenance /Repair
  • Electrical installation and repair
  • Engine and Generators Repair and Maintenance
  • Steel Fabrication and Equipment Manufacturing
